DO YOU HAVE A QUESTION FOR EBAN?

QUESTIONS FROM LAVERNE:

How long does it take you and the guys to practice your singing and your dancing routine before you do another concert?  Does it take weeks or does it take days for you to practice your routine?  Laverne

ANSWERS FROM EBAN:

At this point with the group after 41 years of performing the same songs every time we hit stage, we get together once in a while just to rehearse the overseas show because there are songs that we are famous for in England and Japan that we don't perform in the USA that we must rehearse because we only do those songs a certain time a year.  Also, we have to add the main 5 fives songs that are famous for us in the States to the overseas show.

As for our dance steps, some of the steps have been in place before I joined and there are some that I made up or enhanced.  Mostly we come up with things spontaneously sometimes while we perform and we'll just catch each other's attention on it and make something out of it.

QUESTION FROM MINNIE:

Hello Eban:

You are able to evoke such depth of feeling into your music. What inspires you to be able to do this both vocally and instrumentally.

Peace & Love

Minnie

ANSWER FROM EBAN:

Hello there Minnie,

From the first day I saw my Dad sing and play simutaneously it truly rubbed off on me.  With GOD's grace and mercy I appreciate that gift more and more the older I get.

QUESTION FROM CHARLENE:

If you could choose any artist (past or present) to spend the day with to learn the secrets of success in the music industry, who would it be and why?

EBAN'S ANSWER:

It would be George Benson or Bobby Caldwell because I've always been under inspiration when it comes to these 2 gentlemen.  They are who I would want to pattern my career after.

QUESTION FROM THE FAN CLUB:

While on stage, what goes thru your mind when looking at the audience?

EBAN'S ANSWER:

I think of grace when I'm on stage looking at the people -- I feel free in Spirit and mind and extremely relaxed.  Between concerts I find peace and relaxation with dreaming of melodies in which I ultimately record shortly after.  That  is why and how I came up with Determinism, which is completed by the way.

QUESTION:  When "Determinism" was conceived -- Is there a message in the music you are attempting to convey to your listening audience about who Eban Brown is at this point & time in your career?

ANSWER:  Determinism was conceived after being called DETERMINATION -- being carefully considered then stumbling upon the word Determinism and finding out it was an authentic word.  Plus, the meaning is stronger so my inner feelings gave the encouragement to rename the album.

The message I am conveying is to let people of every culture and religion know that they can do anything they so desire if they put their minds to it.  Being that this project is my very first instrumental recording, I have been putting together within me to do it, and this is it.  Finally, DETERMINISM simply means "inevitability".

QUESTION:   Would you care to share your innermost thoughts about the makings of Determinism?

ANSWER:  My inner thoughts of making this recording is to stand out in the way I deliver
my instrumental sound and technique and to let people know that I am not only
a Falsetto Tenor with The Stylistics, but I am an instrumentalist first before I knew I could sing a little.

QUESTION:  After the songs have been written and it's time to go into the studio to "lay down the tracks" -- what all is involved?

ANSWER:  Once I hammer everything out on my guitar I just go into the studio actually knowing how the song should end up.  A lot of my songs were created simply by walking down the street, looking at someone can give me an idea or when I'm sleeping I can hear a melody and get up to go to the studio to lay just a sample of it so I wont forget it.  But, it never leaves me until I complete the entire idea.

QUESTION:  Other than the recording artist, who are the other key team players involved in the production?

Well, I get this question so many times about the music I perform.  I am basically the sole instrumentalist from day one of recording on my own, because today you don't have people with your same ambitions.  All of my peers are rappers or they are just not inspired like I am.   I play all instruments on my recordings just like Prince or Lionel Richie.  It's a true blessing to go ahead and do what you have to do without worrying about someone being late or not showing up for the session.  GOD has blessed me extremely in the department of being able to play 3 different instruments.  I am using the Roland GR33 which is a Module that I can get all types of sounds a keyboardist would get but for guitar players.  So GOD has really blessed men and women to come up with ideas with our modern technology.

Lastly, I featured for the first time of recording on my own a wonderful saxophone player out of Detroit --  Mr. Marty Montgomery.  You've seen him with the Dramatics and Wild Cherry just to name a few.  He has definitely, in a great way;  put personality to Determinism with his sultry old school Bee Bop style mixed with Pop melodies.  I am really glad I summoned him to play on this recording.
